Southend Primary School has a long and excellent history of providing high quality academic education at an affordable cost. This school was established in 1964 by the funds donated by the members of the Indian community and since then the school has been run by a Board of Governors.

In1964, when the school started its operations, it occupied buildings which are along the Mudi River opposite Victoria Hotel in the City of Blantyre. After several years of successful operations it moved to the then Oriental Club Premises along Ndola Crescent Road before moving to its present premises along Chikwawa road near Green Valley Gardens in 1985.

In the year 1987 we were able to start our Secondary Section, the two sister schools are distinct and separate and have their own administrators.

From the word go in 1964, the Southend Primary School has been managed by both male and female highly qualified and experienced administrators and professionals. From early 1980s to 2017, the school had been headed by Mr. Humbly, Mr. Harter, Mrs. Bhatia, and Mr. Rangasami respectively. Currently it is headed by Mrs. Neetha Cecil as Principal.

In the beginning , the school offered eight years Government Primary School Programme which was replaced by Cambridge International Curriculum which is of six years. Despite these changes, the school standards have not been compromised.

The Southend Primary school currently runs double stream from Reception till year 6 and altogether we have 14 class rooms , an Information Technology Centre and a well-equipped library. It also has  a school hall which can accommodate 2000 people, football grounds, netball field, hockey fields and a basketball court.

Southend Primary School has approximately 300 students, 27 teaching staff, 3 office staff, 18 ground staff and the Principal.

We are committed to help students to become responsible, positive adults who are disciplined, self-confident, motivated, highly qualified and willing to serve the community. Southend Primary gives you the best education, it does not only prepares students for the present, but for their bright future.
